White Christmas 2016

Our White Christmas project is well underway. Boxes have been placed throughout the church to collect non-perishable food items that will be added to 30 food baskets that will be distributed to the needy on December 20th. You may also choose to make a monetary donation to the White Christmas Food Basket Fund with a check placed in the collection plate made out to Grace with “White Christmas” written on the ‘For’ line. We know our less fortunate neighbors will be blessed by our generosity.

Grace Children to Showcase their Musical Gifts!

Our very talented and busy Children’s Ministry Team is planning to “showcase” the musical gifts of our children on December 4th at 6pm in the sanctuary.  The children will delight us by ringing “Angels We Have Heard on High” with their bells, followed by singing “Away in a Manger,” and then concluding with a liturgical dance to “O Come All Ye Faithful”!  Please come and support our wonderful Grace kids as they help focus our attention on Christmas worship.  This evening promises to honor the most cherished gift ever given through the musical gifts of children.  We hope you can join us!  You will certainly be blessed!  We want to sincerely thank our MCF/Sonshiners leadership team and especially Sally Summers and April Glenn for teaching our children how to lead Christmas worship!

Ummm! We can just taste our  UMW’s wonderful cookies!

We are definitely looking forward to the UMW’s delicious Christmas cookies and hot chocolate served on December 4th as refreshments in the Fellowship Hall after our children “showcase” their musical gifts in the sanctuary.  We are asking that the cookies be brought to the church kitchen by 12pm on that day.  Thank you UMWs for using your gifts to help celebrate the Christmas Season with our church family!  You do so much for everyone!

Singing Around the Christmas Tree

It’s nearly time for one of the highlights of the Christmas season!  On Sunday, December 4th at 5:30pm, Grace’s own Fran and Bob Love and “friends” will lead us in singing Christmas carols around the Christmas tree.  As we open this season with love, joy, peace on earth, and goodwill from God toward men, let us take this time to lift our hearts heavenward with songs of praise and gratitude.

Thanks, Fran and Bob, and “friends” for pointing us toward Him by continuing to share your wonderful gifts!  (If you would like to sit during this special celebration, please remember to bring a lawn chair.)

On Tuesday, December 6th @ 6:30 Grace UMC is pleased to present

Every year at Christmas, the old life-size nativity set is assembled at the front of the church.  It's a tradition most would like to forego.  Fifty years ago, when Mrs. Howerton donated the nativity set, she had hoped it might, "Breathe new life into the church and bring to focus the real meaning of Christmas.”  This year, it will. You'll never look at the nativity set the same again!

What you need to know…

  • We are requesting that everyone pray the event will be a blessing for all who attend.
  • During October, tickets will be made available to our Grace Church Family first.
  • In November UCCOM members will then be given an opportunity to acquire tickets.  They will be asked to fill out a small   form  requesting the number of tickets they want for their churches.   (We request they return any unused tickets by 11/21. This will give us 2 weeks to finish redistributing any unused tickets.)
  • In early November we will also advertise available tickets to our community.
  • Our worship will begin  at 6:30  with Grace’s children leading for a few minutes before the play!
  • A love offering will be accepted as people are leaving the church.

Christmas Cantata December 4th

Image result for christmas cantata
The Grace Chancel Choir will present “The Christmas Light” arr.  by Patrick M. Liebergen on Sunday, December 4th during the morning worship service.    The musical texts and dramatic narrative remind us of the hope, peace, joy, and love associated with the Advent season and of the coming of God’s light on Christmas day.  The masterwork choruses and duet are selected from the works of J. M. Haydn, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Praetorius, and Schubert and arranged from the Christmas carol melodies of Gruber, Handel, Mendelssohn, and Wade.  The dramatic narrative is drawn from biblical passages.  You won’t want to miss this special musical presentation.
