Asbury Hill Fall Festival October 22, 2016          10:00am – 5:00pm

  Asbury Hills will host their annual Fall Festival as a way for people to reconnect, remember, and have a blast in what will hopefully be the peak weekend for autumn colors.  We’ll cook up and serve apple butter on the fire, open up a ton of activities for all ages, and plan to have a live bluegrass band.  All the activities are free, but there is a charge for lunch. They will also have store items for purchase.
 
What You Need To Know
  When: Saturday, October 22 -10:00am to 5:00pm 

     Activities are available on a first come, first served basis including: archery, hayrides, rock climbing wall,   face painting, giant swing*, Leap of Faith*, Alpine Tower*, and more. *participants must be 11 years   or older 

    Do you need to bring money? Activities are free.  Our camp store will be open with various items for sale.   Homemade apple butter and fresh pressed cider will be available by donation, and we will also have a   BBQ lunch and funnel cakes available for purchase.  Pricing: Adult BBQ lunch – $10, Child (ages 10 & under) BBQ lunch – $5, Funnel Cakes – $3 

Fun Day with the Bible    October 9, 3 - 5PM  Foster's Chapel UMC 


We will be meeting in the church parking lot no later than 2:45 to head to Foster’s Chapel by 3:00.   (Foster’s Chapel will provide a meal. )

Church Night  at the Fair 

Image result for ferris wheel   The Fair is coming to town the week of October 18th!  Wed., Oct. 19th, has been designated as Church Night at the Fair.  Free admission tickets will be available to everyone who attends worship on Sun., Oct. 16th.  Please be in attendance to ensure your family will receive free admission into the fair and the concert that evening.

Trunk or Treat Coming Soon!

Image result for trunk or treat 2016Great news kids!  On October 30th we are having a Trunk or Treat especially for you.   Join us at 5pm for a delicious supper followed by lots of "Treats" from the “Trunks".  (No scary costumes, please!)  Adults, please contact Margie Ruff and Karen Hibbard if you would be willing to decorate and fill your trunk with treats for our precious children!  Thanks in advance for supporting Grace's kids!

  Fall  Songfest

 Image result for music notesThe United Methodist Songfest sponsored by Union County Council on Ministries will be held at Duncan Acres UMC on All Saints Sunday, November 6th at 6:30pm.  The Grace Chancel Choir will be participating along with some of the other United Methodist church choirs in Union County.  Please plan to attend this special musical program and support the participating choirs.  A love offering will be collected for Neighbor Helping Neighbor projects.

Hot Soup and Cornbread!

Family Night Supper is October 26th at 6:30, and we are asking that everyone bring a big pot or crock of your favorite soup and some cornbread.  In addition, it might be fun to bring desserts that are traditionally fall themed too, such as apple, pumpkin, sweet potato, and pecan pies or any other dessert you love!  We can’t wait to enjoy the Christian fellowship and comfort foods of Fall!  Young Adult Class is our Host.

On Sept. 18th from 5-7pm, we are Back with a Splash!!!

Image result for splashCome one come all…..’cause there will be something for everyone!  Bring your own lawn chair and enjoy “World Famous Arnold/Wilkes Hamburgers” hot off the grill with all the fixings while listening to some “splishsplashy” tunes created for us by Anna Kelly.  Then visit the Owen’s Ice Cream Shoppe for a delicious and refreshing “one of a kind” afternoon treat!  In addition there will be watery activities ranging from a Giant Soapy Water Slide to the Balkum Kiddie Pools for our very young “splashers”.  Try your batting skills at the Youth’s Water Balloon Target and Batting Station, or, if you are feeling feisty, have a safe, fun water fight at the Wagners’ Wet Sponge StationBuddy Blackmon is making a Dunkin’ Chair for us, and Tommy Sinclair is engineering a Kid Car Wash.  (Don’t worry kids if you can’t drive a car yet, because you can bring a ride toy or even run right through it!)        This event will have something for everyone.  If you are not interested in getting wet, Jerry Lipscomb is making a Giant Ker-plunk Game, or try your hand at one of our other fun “non-splashy” activities such as the Glenn’s Tarp Target Game or the Turner’s Frisbee Tic Tac Toe Game.  Not interested in playing….enjoy the fun and food from the comfort of your own lawn chair, or just eat and walk around socializing with everyone while enjoying a gazillion bubbles made at Judy and Sue’s “Gazillion Bubbles” bubble station.  Lastly, Margie and Karen, will have a “sweet” surprise in store for the all children as they leave. (Children, please bring your friends!)  Mark your calendars today! Don’t forget your lawn chairs, extra towels, change of clothes, flip flops and huge appetite. You don’t want to miss this last bit of summer fun with our Grace family

District Lay Speaking Classes Offered

The Fall Session of Lay Speaking Classes will be offered on September 11th, 18th and Oct. 2nd at St. Luke UMC in Spartanburg.  The following courses will be offered: Basic with Terry Sturgill, Go Preach with Rev. Richard Lewis, Living Our Beliefs with Eunice White and Let the Whole Church Say Amen (Prayer) and Polity with Rev. Richard Lewis.  If you are interested in taking a class, please see the Welcome Center Table for a registration form.  Deadline is Sept. 3.
