GUMCEP students have had lots of fun this summer going to the Big E in Gaffney, the library, having water fun games and many more activities. The children are looking forward to an end of summer luau, complete with leis and hula skirts on August 9th. Union County Schools will begin the 2017 year on Thursday, August 17th and so will GUMCEP. On Monday, August 21st, the children will observe the solar eclipse with special craft projects and snacks. Special glasses have been ordered for everyone so that they may enjoy this historic event safely.
The GUMCEP summer program will begin on Thursday, June 1st. Many day trips are being planned to include: visiting the library, skating, movies at Big E in Gaffney, Greenville Zoo, Mr. Gattis, picnics at Foster Parks and a talent show to showcase our children’s talents.
GUMCEP is completing another successful school year. Practicing has already begun for our End-of-the-Year Program, “Traveling with GUMCEP”, which will be held on Thursday, May 25th, at 6:00 pm. Everyone is invited.
GUMCEP’s Summer Fun Program will officially begin on June 5. Teachers are busy planning and scheduling summer activities for the children. Trips scheduled for the older children include weekly movies in Gaffney at Big E, picnics at Foster’s Park, and monthly trips to Mr. Gatti’s. The younger children will participate in story time at the library, and playing lots of learning games. Come and visit GUMCEP anytime.
GUMCEP will kick off April by anticipating the Easter Bunny and working on Easter activities. The children continue to enjoy their trips to the Carnegie library once a week for story time and to participate in activities. Our annual End-of-the Year program is fast approaching. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 25th, at 6:00 pm and share the date with family members and friends. GUMCEP children are literal “sponges” and enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. If you are interested, please contact Robin Bennett.
During the month of March, GUMCEP will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss by enjoying his books during story time. The children will also learn about St. Patrick’s Day and have a surprise visit from the Leprechaun. Don’t forget to wear green! The children walk to the Carnegie library once a week for story time and to participate in activities. GUMCEP children love to learn everyday and enjoy visits from the community. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Robin Bennett.
We want to say thank you to Carolyn Turner for continuing to share her extraordinary musical talents with GUMCEP. We deeply appreciate you and all that you do for our program and our church!
